This month, I was honored to work on wedding bands for an epic love tale. Alex Honnold and Sanni McCandless, mountain climbers and planet activists, asked me to work on rings for the exchange of their vows this summer. You may be familiar with their love story shown in the National Geographic documentary, Free Solo (highly recommended it if you haven't seen it yet).

We are inspired by people that push the envelope in not only their personal lives but also their social endeavors and global initiatives. It was so exciting to make this ring for someone who champions the environment like Alex.

The Honnold Foundation provides grants to organizations advancing solar energy access all over the world. They believe that "energy should be easy to access, affordable and have a low impact on the natural world." Having lived in areas of the world where electricity was hard to come by we know first hand how important this work is. When we lived in Guatemala we worked making bicycle powered generators for communities that lived off grid. Bringing solar power to those communities could change lives in an amazing way. In Arizona we lived with Navajo elders that lived off grid, hauled all their water and lived a traditional lifestyle herding sheep. Bringing solar to these indigenous lands would make the elders lives so much easier and empower their children to continue living a traditional life with more modern amenities. Solar power access in marginalized communities truly can change the trajectory of a family's life. 

Especially now, as we see fires ravaging across California, I hope we are waking up to the fact that we must invest in renewable energy. Ignoring the climate crisis will not lead to the changes we need to make for a more equitable planet for all. 

Nature's beauty inspired us, rejuvenates us and gives us hope. This week we are pledging 50% of the proceeds from any sales of our mountain collection to The Honnold Foundation, an organization that pushes our own brand values; supporting the wellness of our planet and equity and access for all.
